thanks for making work so very SWEET.

So, when Cruz told me he had a job opportunity in St. George... I was still at work, and immediately cried. I was super excited for him and his opportunity but it would mean big change for me too. One that would change my career. I have been lucky enough to work exactly where I have always wanted to. I love doing graphic design. I do it for work, I do it for fun. It is awesome. Covenant offers so many unique things to do from making books to aprons...! Moving would mean leaving the job I'd been working (also loving) and doing something else. That was hard. I didn't really want to... but I also knew it was exactly what we needed to do. Though I had mixed feelings.
Mark, Margaret, Me and Jennifer.
See these people up there... they are some of my co-workers from Covenant.
The place I have been working for the last 6+ years.

Oh, the funny stories I could tell. We have had so many good times, and well... some down times too... but that is what makes it real life, right? We have made mistakes, and learned from them. I love all the people that work there. They are all very funny. They will help you with anything they can. They have blessed my life. They started out just being my co-workers but now... I call them my friends.

So, for my last day... I wanted to bring them a little treat.
The last day of work really jumped up on me...
so, I was making these well after mid-night.
They turned out good though.

My co-workers really did make life very sweet.
the people you work with really do make or break the job.
I was lucky enough to work with people that made it a fantastic job.

Hugs to all you Covenant employees... current ones and those who have moved on.
Love ya. Miss ya.
... and the best part is, that they love me too... enough to let me do freelance stuff for them. So, it has made the transition a lot easier. Though I miss seeing them.

Win a KINDLE FIRE!

As most of you know, I am a graphic designer. During the day I design for Covenant Communications. An LDS book-publisher. A fantastic job, I am really lucky! Anyway, a book that I designed the cover for released this month (Feb. 2012). It is an intriguing story. I just listened to the audio book while we drove to San Francisco, it kept our minds off of the long drive. I don't know why but I am interested in stories of people who were aboard the Titanic.

I loved how the cover turned out... but the main reason for this post is so that YOU can watch/share the book trailer, and WIN a Kindle Fire from Covenant Communications.

Rules and details of the contest can be found here.
Below is the book's trailer.
ENJOY!

mmm. . . chocolate!

My latest design project has hit the shelves! I am super excited to announce . . .
Chocolate Never Faileth
by Annette Lyon and designed by ME!

You can pick up your copy here or here!
Not that I have tired all the recipes yet. . .
but these are my top 4 favorites, thus far.
  1. chocolate pavlova p. 193 . . .  I had never had pavlova before, and it turns out that it is yummy and good. The raspberries are a perfect touch to this yummy goodness. (PS. . . I made the one in the picture on page 192. It was the first try, and it turned out great!)
  2. classic chocolate chip cookies p.51 . . . but those are my weakness.
  3. easy chocolate pudding p.87 . . . I was surprised how good and rich this pudding was.
  4. zebra/tiger tails . . . creative, and tasty; really a win, win.
Things I loved about this project are:
  1. I got to set up photo-shoots, and pick out display pieces. (I fell in love with all the cute dishes.)
  2. Love the scalloped pages. (You'll have to see them in person, they are cute!)
  3. Love the red coil spiral binding on the inside.
  4. Love all the little birds that are throughout the book.
enjoy!

World Wide Ward Cookbook

It's here! So, at work this is my latest BIG project. It was kinda a crazy project, but it turned out well. This is the Worldwide Ward Cookbook. It hit the shelves a few weeks earlier then planned, so check it out at your local Seagull Book or Desert Book Store. It has recipes gathered from members across the world. It was fun to see that the author had got a recipe from a member that I knew in Japan... it really is a small world.

Happy COOKING!
